HOW RADIO AIRPLAY SUBMISSION WORKS
Most stations have a music director who listens to submissions and decides what goes into rotation. You send a finished song and short info, then follow up.
Every station decides for itself, so most submissions don't turn into plays. That's why many artists pair station pitching with a guaranteed option.
WHAT TO SEND
A mastered MP3 (320 kbps is standard), the exact song title and artist name, genre, songwriter and producer credits, and a clean radio edit if the song is explicit.
A 2 to 3 sentence pitch: who you are, what the song is, and why it fits that station's listeners.
WHERE TO SUBMIT
College and community stations are the most open to independent artists. Internet stations and specialty shows are next. Commercial FM is the hardest without a label or plugger.
Independent Radio FM accepts every member's weekly song. Submit by Thursday 11:59 PM ET and it airs that Saturday.

Independent Radio FM is $49 a month, cancel anytime. Members submit one song a week, every song airs in the Hot Artists or Upcoming Artists portion of the Saturday show starting at 3 PM Eastern / 12 PM Pacific, and every song gets a written DJ review.

Is there a free way to submit music to radio?
Yes, many college and community stations accept free submissions by email. They don't promise a play. Independent Radio FM is paid, but every weekly song is guaranteed to air.
How long until my song is played?
At Independent Radio FM, songs submitted by Thursday 11:59 PM ET air that Saturday. At other stations it can take weeks, if they play it at all.
Do you accept every genre?
Yes. Independent Radio FM accepts every genre, and everyone who joins is accepted.
