WHAT IS AN EP?
EP stands for extended play. It's a release that's longer than a single but shorter than a full album.
HOW LONG IS AN EP?
Most EPs have about 3 to 6 songs. Streaming services and distributors set their own rules for what counts as an EP, so check your distributor's current guidelines before you upload.
EP VS. SINGLE VS. ALBUM
A single is usually 1 to 3 songs built around one main track. An EP is a small collection. An album is a full-length body of work, usually longer than 30 minutes.
WHEN SHOULD YOU RELEASE AN EP?
An EP works well once you have a few strong songs that belong together. Many artists release one or two singles first, then collect them on an EP with a few new tracks.
Radio usually plays one song at a time, so pick a lead track to push to stations.

COMMON QUESTIONS
What does EP stand for?
Extended play. The name comes from vinyl records that held more than a single but less than a full album.
Can I send an EP to radio?
Yes, but pitch one focus track. At Independent Radio FM, members submit one song a week, so you can work through your EP track by track.
