HOW TO UPLOAD MUSIC TO SPOTIFY

You can't upload songs straight to Spotify yourself. You go through a distributor. Here's the whole process from file to release day.

    1. CHOOSE A DISTRIBUTOR

Distributors deliver your music to Spotify and other services and collect the money. Compare pricing models and what happens if you stop paying. See our music distribution services guide.

    2. PREPARE YOUR FILES

You need a high-quality mastered audio file (usually WAV), square cover art that meets your distributor's size rules, song titles, credits, and whether the song is explicit.

    3. SET A RELEASE DATE

Upload at least a few weeks before release day. That gives time for delivery and for pitching the song to Spotify's editorial playlists.

    4. CLAIM SPOTIFY FOR ARTISTS

Once your first release is live or scheduled, claim your Spotify for Artists profile. It lets you add a photo and bio, see your stats, and pitch unreleased songs to editors.

    5. PROMOTE IT

Uploading gets a song online, not heard. Share it, play it live, pitch blogs and get radio play to send real listeners to it.
