How to Make Your Song Radio Ready: File and Clean Edit Checklist
Radio ready is not a magic sound or a loudness trick. It means the host can open the file, understand what it is and play a version that fits the show's rules.
Send the format the outlet requests
Keep a lossless master such as WAV for your records, but send the file type the station asks for. Turning a low-quality MP3 into WAV does not restore missing detail. Listen to the exact export you are sending, not just the session in your recording software.
Make the clean version intentional
If a station needs a clean edit, check every verse, ad-lib and background vocal. A clean file name does not make the audio clean. Avoid awkward cuts that change the rhythm. Label the versions clearly and never let a host guess whether the track contains explicit language.
Label the file and the credits
Use a clear file name with the artist, song and version. Check spelling across your email, file and artist page. Include songwriter and producer credits where requested. Keep release details handy so the host does not need a second email just to name the track correctly.
Test it as a listener
Open the link in a private browser window and try it on a phone. Listen through the ending. If downloads are required, make sure permission is enabled. Our radio-ready check can help you organize the final checks; it does not replace listening to the file.
YOUR NEXT MOVE
Play the exact file you plan to send from start to finish. Check its label, explicit version and public access.
