Where to Submit Independent Music for Radio Airplay
Most independent artists know they want radio airplay but not where to send their music. Here are the realistic places to submit, from easiest to hardest.
Internet radio stations
Online stations are the most open to independent music and often accept submissions through a form or email. They are a good place to collect your first radio credits.
College radio
Student-run stations have music directors who actively look for new music. Check each station's submission page and follow its format exactly. See our college radio submission guide for details.
Community and low power FM
Nonprofit community stations and low power FM stations often have local music shows and specialty genre programs run by volunteers who care about new artists.
Specialty shows
Rather than pitching a whole station, find the individual show that plays your genre and contact its host directly. This is usually the fastest route to a real spin.
Guaranteed airplay
If you want a sure thing, Independent Radio FM plays one song a week from every member on a Saturday show and sends a written DJ review, for $49 a month. Learn more at independentradio.fm/get-my-music-on-the-radio.
