How to Submit Your Music to Online Radio Stations

Online radio is the easiest radio to break into as an independent artist. Here is how to find the right stations and submit your music so it actually gets played.

Find stations that play your genre

Internet stations are often very genre specific. Listen first and make a short list of stations that already play artists like you.

    Check the licensing

Legitimate internet stations pay performance royalties. Register your songs with a performing rights organization and SoundExchange so you get paid for plays.

    Follow each station's submission process

Most use a form or a specific email. Send exactly what they ask for, usually an MP3, credits and a short note.

    Share every play

When a station plays your song, share it and tag them. Stations remember artists who promote their shows.

    Get played every week

Independent Radio FM guarantees one song a week on its Saturday shows for members, plus a written DJ review, for $49 a month.
