LYERLY: James Allen Bean is an artist who knows that great music starts with true stories. Bean is based in Lyerly, and he wrote his first song in 1970 when he was just eight years old. He has spent decades playing guitar, collecting records, and studying the sounds of legendary bands. Now, he is bringing his own original songs out into the open for listeners who value heart and genuine experience.

A True Love Story in Song

One of the key releases from James Allen Bean is the single I wanted to Dance, released on September 27th, 2006. The track tells the true story of how Bean met his wife. On their very first dance together, Bean told her that she was going to be his wife. She thought he was nuts, figuring he was just an out of town guy in a small town trying to pick up the best girl around. That moment was far from a one night story, as their thirty-five years of marriage have proved.

Bean wrote the song after his wife told him he would never really write a song for her. That playful challenge sparked his creativity, and once he got started, he could not stop writing.

“I don't write pop songs. I write real stories about life, the struggles we all face and the victories and celebrations we enjoy along the way.”

    Rooted in Classic Sound

Bean describes himself as an old audiophile who grew up on the great sounds of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. When he felt music went downhill after that era, he decided to write the songs he wanted to hear himself. His musical roots stretch across many styles from the 1950s all the way to the present day. He pulls inspiration from iconic rock groups like Judas Priest, Foreigner, Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Nazareth, The Beatles, The Police, Queen, Tom Petty, Kansas, and Chicago, as well as groups like Nickelback and Red Clay Strays.

“I believe that every song has a specific genre and style to best express the message and emotions the writer attempts to capture.”

Bean plays guitar on his tracks, though he admits he does not sing. Instead of chasing trends, he matches each song to the right mood so listeners can find encouragement, hope, and peace in their own lives.

    The Journey Continues

Looking ahead over the next year, James Allen Bean aims to write and publish as many songs as come to mind. He wants to entertain people and share honest memories through his work. He also plans to launch a new podcast on YouTube to talk about his path, his personal story, and his new adventure in songwriting and publishing. He says he may have an old body, but he will always stay seventeen at heart.
